Inspired By
I have a deep admiration for English country kitchens, especially those from brands like DeVol. Additionally, I draw inspiration from Italian design, encompassing both old world charm and modern elements. As someone who loves to cook, it was essential for me to prioritize easy accessibility to ingredients. Hence the shelf above the range. This unique blend of styles is guiding the concept for my new kitchen.
Our goal
Maximized Storage & Spacious Feel
As a passionate cook, it was crucial for me to ensure that ingredients were easily accessible, which is why I installed shelving above the range. Additionally, I needed to maximize the space and create more storage options. To achieve this, I vertically extended the cabinets from the counter to the ceiling. This not only created the illusion of a higher ceiling but also provided ample storage space. Furthermore, I incorporated a lazy susan at the bottom of the cabinets and expanded the size of the island, adding storage for various items all around. To enhance the sense of spaciousness, I opted for a neutral color palette throughout the kitchen.
What we did to get there:
01.
One of the challenges we faced was dealing with limited square footage while trying to enlarge the island and maintain proper walking space. We had to carefully position the island to ensure it met the necessary dimensions.
02.
The cabinets initially posed an issue as they didn't allow the range to align perfectly with the central position of the hood. We had to make some modifications to the cabinets to achieve the desired symmetry. Despite these difficulties, everything ultimately worked out and I am extremely pleased with the final result.
